Hey everyone, it’s been a while, but comments are finally here! I’ve also got some updates on projects I have already announced and new projects in development.
Comments
You can now go to the bottom of certain pages1 and view comments people have made on the page. You will also be able to view and leave reactions on the page. These comments are powered by giscus.
Comments are an incredibly useful feature that allow you to send feedback directly on my site without having to send me an email (which you can still do anyway!).
Note that, before posting a comment or reaction, you will need to link giscus to your GitHub account. You do not need to do this to view comments or reactions, but it is a requirement to post them. I do not recieve access to your GitHub account in any way, it is only given to the giscus app, which only uses it to comment on GitHub discussions on your behalf.
Also to note, there is a notice below comments for now saying that they are experimental. This is not at the fault of the giscus developers, it is something placed there by me because of how I handle comments. There is a large CSS file used to theme the comments section, but I have been unable to test all features at this time. Due to this, I have marked comments as experimental. In the future, this will be removed.
Home Refresh
It feels like I do this with every release at this point, but there has been a refresh of the ‘Home’ page. The title text and information below it has been tweaked to be less of a wall of text and have more up-to-date information.
Footer Refresh
A minor tweak has been made to the footer of the site, elaborating on the copyright notices and referencing the fact that comments are in beta and powered by giscus.
Clarifications to Stance on Generative AI
I have tweaked my Stance on Generative AI to be more clear and concise, while elaborating on certain points and bringing in an easy way to check the history of the page.
Future Plans
Previously Mentioned Plans
Now, it is time for the obligatory talking about future plans in these update posts. Firstly, I will update you on previously mentioned plans.
Nintendo 3DS Project
In my previous blog post, I mentioned that I was developing a project for the Nintendo 3DS. I am unfortunately now announcing that work on the project mentioned there has been suspended, for multiple reasons which will not be discussed at this time. This project may be resumed at a future time, but consider it delayed for an indefinite amount of time. This is my bad for announcing something when it might not end up working.
Smaller Content
Once again referencing my previous blog post, I am working on scoping out an additional category for my site. I am considering naming it something such as ‘Scribbles’, which will feature items such as art, whether that be pixel art, creations from within software such as Flipnote Studio, Miiverse and Minecraft. This may be coming in the near future.
Backlog
In my first blog post, I noted that I wanted to create a ‘Backlog’ page, featuring games I have played. I have made an attempt to create this page, but it is not easy to determine how things will be sorted and what information to include. As such, development on this project has ceased.
Newly Revealed Plans
I will now reveal more plans that I have not previously discussed. This can be anything from minor site updates, to entirely new projects.
Additional site features
I wish to add additional features to this website. I don’t exactly know what these features will be yet, maybe they will just be funny little things to interact with, or full-on webgames. This is likely to be the subject of the next site update.
Tools for video creation
I have started production of tools that assist with creation of video content. These tools will be bundled in to a browser-based application that will remain private for some time, but when it is released, will be made available under an open-source license. Features this project will include are music pop-ups, borders for non-widescreen content or content of a resolution that is hard to scale, footnotes and end screens. This suite will be used in the next video I produce for my YouTube Channel, if one is to be completed.
Conclusion
I don’t usually make a conclusion to a blog post, but that’s the best way I can describe this.
I’d like to apologise for the delay between the last post and this one. I effectively had comments ready back in the end of March, but for various reasons had to postpone release of them. However, now, I am happy with the state of this site update and am ready to get back to work making projects.
I’d recommend adding my Blog to your RSS Reader application to stay up-to-date with what’s coming.
Thanks for reading!
