My Opinion
Use of Generative AI is becoming more and more prevalent, with no signs of stopping. However, I believe that the use of Generative AI for ‘art’ or programming is predominantly due to laziness and disregard of Quality Control. Can something that works great be created using Generative AI? Yes. Is it common for something created using Generative AI to work great? No.
Alongside from the quality issues it has, it also can negatively impact jobs, the environment, and the mental capacity of its’ users, assuming said mental capacity wasn’t already damaged beforehand.
Now, I have little interest in using Generative AI to create content to feature on this site, or any social media profiles I operate. However, due to the current internet landscape, it is often impossible to avoid AI-generated content in certain situations. As such, I have created a system that will handle disclosure of Generative AI if it is to ever be used.
AI-Generated Content Disclosures
This site
All pages on this site have a small box (displayed on the bottom right on desktop, and at the bottom of the page on mobile) which will state if Generative AI has been used and also what it has been used for.1
YouTube
All public YouTube videos posted by the user @an1nterestingname will have a disclaimer in the description stating the following:
This video does not feature any content created using Generative AI. See my website for more details.
However, if there is usage of Generative AI in the video, this message will be displayed instead:
This video features content created using Generative AI (
Content Type). See my website for more details.
Twitch
Currently there are no plans for disclosure of content created using Generative AI due to the fact Twitch does not have many places that this disclosure can be placed. This disclosure will be present in the YouTube VOD of the stream if content created using Generative AI is featured.
GitHub
The method of disclosing content created using Generative AI will vary depending on the repository, but usually contributions that make use of Generative AI will not be permitted.
Speedrun.com
No content uploaded to Speedrun.com will feature content created using Generative AI.
PlanetMinecraft
No content uploaded to PlanetMinecraft will feature content created using Generative AI.
